About
The main force behind this site is Judith Airey. She has a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology and is a Faculty Member in the Pharmacology Department at the Medical School of the University of Nevada Reno. Recently Dr Airey changed from a full time to part time faculty position in order to concentrate on a series of informational websites and an ebook. Info: Blood Pressure is the first of these sites.
Although the web has amazing amounts of health information, there are several problems.
Many sites try to cover many wide-ranging topics, such as blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, etc., and so have small amounts of incomplete information about all the topics. The more knowledge you have, and the greater understanding of blood pressure, the better you can make informed decisions.
Another problem is that it is hard to tell fact, from fiction, from biased opinion, from just plain wrong. When dealing with health problems such as high blood pressure, that can have serious consequences, you need to know what is known, what could be true, what is speculation and what is not correct.
Sometimes information is not up-to-date. Many sites get put up on the web, and then nothing is done to them for years. A site that stays current with the research, new guidelines and products such as blood pressure monitors, and is constantly adding new material can help you make the best choices.
